While the "giveaway" item's second life on someones desk is a bonus, its primary purpose it to stop someone
in front of your booth. Typically, you've got less that 10 seconds to capture someones attention as they stroll past your display, so... if your giveaway encourages a show attendee ("the picker") to stop for a minute and wait for a chance to grab your giveaway, then you have an increased chance that the potential client will read your booth graphics, remember what you do, and possibly give you an opportunity to talk
to them.
